Clear views of Denali, and wonderful skiing by the river

The last few weeks have been fairly grey and foggy, Ann's had a cold that has been hard to shake off, and we've been craving the sun.... so, last weekend we headed north to Talkeetna. Had a fantastic couple of nights at the roadhouse. Cold, but clear skies, northern lights, stars...and the sun! Skied, drank coffee, listened to music, saw Santa, and wrote Christmas cards.. a perfect start to Christmas.
Winter did arrive. Here is Eklutna Lake, good snow but lake still open. Sharing the day with our new friends Laura and Aaron who have just moved to Anchorage.
Unsuccessful moose hunts this year led to our first cow-pool from the valley. Four families went in on the whole cow. Had an interesting day adventure driving to the valley to pick it up.... yes, we can get a whole cow in our suburu....just.

Looking down the Resurrection Trail. We had a couple of peaceful weekends in Hope this Fall, camping and hiking up high, and enjoying Angela and Julian's cabin after our first snow fall.
Winter came late this year. A real treat for late hiking in the high country and collecting the last of the berries. This view is from the ridge overlooking Hope and Turnagain Arm.
