Cordova

We're now in our new home in Cordova; We have internet, phone, and a working oven. We've been slowly unpacking and recovering from the hectic last couple of months. It's peaceful here. Here are some images of our transition...

John, Elizabeth, and boys hosted a wonderful spring celebration. A chance to catch up with good friends before we left. We going to miss you all a lot.

David Freeman and Peter. We had a steady stream of friends pop in our final week; thank you to everyone for taking care of Peter, feeding us, packing, and help load the uhauls. We couldn't have done it without you!

Memories of those exhausting last days are a good reminder not to move again for a while.

After a late night of cleaning, we had a much needed sleep and breakfast with Melonie and Fondu, and hit the road to Whittier.

Chris and Pato joined the moving crew from Fairbanks, and Tom Gordon drove up from Funny River. What a power team! THANK YOU THANK YOU! We had four days of brilliant blue sky, and were able to move all our gear in on 3 low-tides. We brought our household stuff and lots of lumber, and we swapped out old appliances.

Chris left, and the weather took a turn towards the damp. Straight rain for another 3 days while Tom and Dustin worked on putting up a small bunk house.

Suz, Mark and Nora joined us for Easter weekend; we were able to get the walls up and roof on the bunk house and have an Easter egg hunt on the docks.

Here's a view of home from the other side of Eccles Creek. It's even more magical than we thought; a dipper, mergansers, river otter in our front yard, an ever changing landscape with tide and weather, and really wonderful neighbours. We've had a great welcome from everyone in the lagoon. A trail runs alongside everyone's home, so it's fairly social, and even though we have to walk a few minutes to get here from a trailhead, we're only a 5 min bike ride from downtown. It feels a little like a village from back home.

Dustin set-up the home-office, and has had his first week back at work, and Peter and I have been busy unpacking, making home, exploring the beaches, and recharging.

We're keeping an eye out for the arrival of the shorebirds... they are trickling in daily, but still not en masse

Peter continues to make friends easily. Four kids were brought up in the Lagoon, and they are all thrilled to have Peter join the gang. He played next-door on Sunday for a couple of hours.
