Puddle Jumpers and a Peter-proof fence

As the snow began to melt, we spent a lot of time playing in the creek and meadow. 

And, hours exploring the beach.  Pop kelp exploded with new life, and the beach became jam-packed with action from the returning shorebirds and gulls.

One of the best things about being a mum is the great group of other stay-at-home mums with small kids, or "Puddle Jumpers."  It's a wonderful cohort, and I feel I've made some close friends. We meet at least weekly as for an activity... inside or out, and have been doing monthly family suppers together.  It's a great support group, and super fun for everyone.

Some wonderfully warm days in April almost erased any lingering memories of a tough winter.  The hummingbirds are back, and the lagoon feels wonderfully alive with magic again.

Vera and I have started kid-sharing--Calvin comes to us for half a day a week, and vice versa.  The boys really enjoy each other, and we all get a break. It's perfect.

Wet walk on Mothers Day!

A wonderful afternoon outside with Calvin and Ria.  Summer is officially here!

Projects usually seem simple and quick on paper, but soon escalate.  A simple fence to keep Peter from falling the 8ft into the slough has turned into a couple of weeks slog!  The top boards of the bulkhead were rotten and needed digging out and replacing before the fence could go up.  We walked over 10 miles.. just carrying all the lumber down the trail.  And, then started the excavation project.  Aaron and Laura came over to help for a couple of days,  and we were able to make alot of progress with extra hands and dedicated full-days.  Thank goodness for friends!
