Dustin was in Bristol Bay for 7 weeks, and we were ready for a family adventure when he returned.
Rain and fog kept preventing our Egg Island trip, and we made a last minute decision to do the 12 mile ridge walk that starts at Crater Lake and ends in Power Creek. We've been dreaming of this for a while, and it was incredible.
We took two nights and three days, and Leif walked the whole thing. Both boys were so happy, and it really was the perfect family holiday. The boys thrive on having a mission and an adventure, and it was such a happy time. Fun to see the boys in that environment being so positive and encouraging to each other. Made me excited for longer-distance treks together in the future.

The fog rolled in and out. We had breathe-taking views, and long-stretches of mysterious landscape where rocks took the form of dinosaurs.
We were treated to great views of a mountain goat, a couple of deer, and the silhouette of a beautiful brown bear.

First time we've done a trip where the boys had to put on wet boots on a cold morning. I was amazed at how happy and confident they were on the trail, with not the easiest conditions.

Very thankful for the chance to have such an incredible trail, and having a family to share it with.
