mid summer

Dustin has been away for the last few weeks, fishing in Bristol Bay.  And, Peter and I have been manning the home-front.  We had some nice sunny days in June, and some fun paddles in the lagoon.
Vegetation has grown up well around the boardwalk.  It's a total miracle that all these plants can survive under that snow.
Hartney Bay in full summer galore
We've been enjoying daily fresh salad
Ria and Peter doing craft projects.  Peter looks soo serious in this top photo, but this soon degenerated into the usual chaos
Idyllic day by the river.  Sun, sand, and water.  This photo makes me laugh-- they are such a motley crew, such different characters, and all sporting some kind of summer injury or bug bites.
Clothes soon came off
Emily, Jeff, Genevieve, and Charlotte.  A goodbye party for dear friends.  We miss you lots, and look forward to visits in the future.
Another stint on Egg Island.  This time the chicks had hatched.
Acres and Acres of strawberries!  The largest plants are surrounding the gulls nest.  They get great fertilizer, and the chicks have good vegetation for hiding!
Nichola at the end of an exhausting 4-day trip!
Peter and I joined Skyla and Karen for our first kayak on Lake Eyak.  The kids did great, and it was soo fun to explore a hidden beach.  Thanks Karen!
Sarah B. came to visit for a few days.. and it poured for her whole visit!  Not daunted, we had an expedition out the road and collected sand from the banks of the Copper, had a great hike on the Pipeline Lakes loop, and a couple of kayaks.  Thank you for all your help and companionship, Sarah.  We miss you.
Sarah bought over our new kayak (as a foot passenger!).  Huge thanks to her, and to Aaron and Laura for delivering it to Whittier.  The large cockpit is much safer for Peter and I, and it's a great way for us to get out easily from home.  Peter loves it.
Maggie, ever loyal, paddling fast behind the kayaks and following along the shore.
Still smiling after days of wet outings!

Fall and early Winter

Our landing home after fish-camp was full, and we all had travel plans.  A little too much travel, but each was rich and important.  Peter ...
