Isle of Wight, first installment

We left Florida, and flew to England.  It was a quick direct flight, and mum met us in London with a picnic and helped us navigate the trains and ferry over to the Isle of Wight.

Such a treat to have time with family, and spend time together.

We spent four weeks on the island, staying in Liz's flat.  We're starting to build up a life there with activities and memories, and it was fun to return with the boys a little older.

I'm so much happier traveling by foot or bike, and the Isle of Wight is on a perfect scale for us.  It's about a 20 minute bike ride between Liz's flat in Freshwater and mum and dad in Yarmouth.  The bike trail crosses marsh..

...into Yarmouth.
The perfect commute with lots of birds, dog walkers, runners, and puddles!

Alice came over for a couple of days.
We had a wonderful day hike together, complete with a bus ride to start us off, and fish and chips to end with.

Open spaces, great running, wind, freedom!

We had a wonderful day outing with mum to see the dinosaur museum.  The Isle of Wight has lots of fossils, and makes the reality that dinosaurs once lived here that much more real.

Face-painting at the museum and running on the beach afterwards

Just like home... our bike trail to Yarmouth was flooded one day!

Each day was spent outside, doing wonderfully simple and local adventures.  Lots of exploring and playing and walking. I walked over 250 miles.
