August and September were wet. Very wet.
We'd been waiting for a three day window of good weather for our planned ridge hike, and it wasn't happening.
So, the last weekend before school started, we decided to jump (splash?) and hike into Power Creek Cabin. We discovered the road had been washed out and was closed, and that added some extra miles to our trip.. so, it turned into a 9 mile hike each way in torrential rain. But, we all had fun, the boys thrive on a mission, and it felt like a real break.
We make parenting jokes that it's easier to hike 9 miles in the rain than spend a rain-day inside with the two boys.
..but, it's not really a joke.
