These first two photos are Calvin and Peter, age 2, up at Crater Lake. I was pregnant with Leif for this hike.
Vera has been our adventure partner since Peter and Calvin were 8 and 11 months old. We've learned so much hiking and exploring with our boys together, and I'm so appreciative of our friendship and adventures in life.
Our first hike up to Crater with the one-yr old boys in backpacks seemed fairly epic-- figuring out what to pack for a long day hike and how to carry everything and the boys safely. Ever since then, we've hiked up to Crater each year together.
Now we have four boys between us, and we did our first backpack trip together-- camping at Crater lake for the night, and hiking up to the ridge antennae for our second day. These boys are strong and capable, and it's great to see more ground open up for future adventures.
Such incredible weather, beautiful flowers, space, and peace...apart from having four rowdy boys with us!
Wooly Louswort was the flower of the trip. There were so many.
