Spring Break ski trip

For the last few years, we've been hoping for conditions for a Spring Break ski trip.  And, Cordova weather and dates have never aligned!

This year it did, and we did our first family ski tour.  Three days, two nights.  We had perfect conditions, in the teens at night and sunny enough during the day to dry out gear.  And, it was really only such a happy first winter camping tour with the boys because of these great conditions.

We had two sleds, and a lot of gear!  The boys each had two sleeping bags, 3 pairs of mittens... and two sets of outer wear!   Just two nights, and barely long enough to get our winter-camping routine down, but it was a really happy trip and the boys rocked it--- even the less fun parts like sleeping with your wet mittens and ski boots in your sleeping bag!

This is the first year where cross country skiing has really been fun and easy for both boys, and we can all move at a similar pace.  I'm excited for spring travel adventures in the future.

We headed out on the Delta, camped on the edge of large frozen lake, then did a day trip to the ocean on the second day.  Such a gift to be able to access and explore the Delta.  We heard coyotes and saw a short-eared owl hunting.  We all came back recharged and with great sun-tans!

Peter spent most of his first winter naps in this Norwegian pulk while I skied (see 5 month old Peter in photo below).  Crazy that 9 years later he's pulling the same pulk.  Time is going fast.  Maybe he'll be pulling me in 9 years time!
